Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP offering the undergraduate scholarship, the Korean Government again provides Masters and Doctoral scholarships in 2021 in Korea.
Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) offers to international applicants including Indonesia are given the opportunity to continue their studies in Korea at the full cost of the Korean Government.
This scholarship has a total quota of 1,278 seats for 145 countries. Indonesia gets around 65 scholarship seats in 2021 – 2022.
A total of 26 scholarship seats can be applied directly through the Korean Embassy in Jakarta, while the remaining 39 scholarship seats can be applied through universities in Korea.
In addition to this number, there is also a quota of 1 seat for professional programs specifically for Korean language teachers / lecturers.
What is interesting about the KGSP scholarship? Besides of course a full scholarship. These postgraduate and doctoral scholarships in Korea offer many choices of universities and also programs that can be followed.
There are about 59 Korean universities to choose from. For example, the Academy of Korean Studies, Ajou University, Chung-Ang University, KDI School of Public Policy and Management, Dongguk University, Ewha Womans University, Hanyang University, Konkuk University, Kookmin University, Korea University, Korea Polythecnic University, Yonsei University, and much more.
Korean KGSP Scholarship Program provides a duration of two years for the master program plus one year of Korean language courses (3 years total).
Meanwhile, doctoral scholarships are given for three years and plus one year for Korean language courses (total 4 years). The cost of these studies and courses will be borne by the Korean Government.
Scholarships for master and doctoral programs in Korea begin September 1, 2021 until the end of the study period.
The scholarships awarded include air tickets for Indonesia-Korea economy class round-trip, a monthly allowance of 1,000,000 won (± IDR 11.5 million), a one-time allowance of 200,000 won, research allowance of 210,000 won per semester for the fields of social sciences and cultural sciences. and 240,000 won per semester for science and engineering.
In addition, there is also a one-year Korean language course fee and full tuition fees, a thesis / dissertation printing fee of around 500,000 – 800,000 won, health insurance 20,000 won per month, and special funding if you have Korean language skills with a TOPIK 5 test score or 6. This special fund is given 100,000 won per month.
Not only that, scholarship recipients who have completed their studies and returned to their home countries will be given a grant of 100,000 won. Interesting right?
Korean KGSP Scholarship Program Requirements:
- Applicants and parents who are not Korean citizens
- Under 40 years of age (born after 1 September 1981)
- Applicants holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree by 31 August 2021
- Applicants who meet ALL of the following conditions can apply as long as they are under 45 years of age (born after 1 September 1976):
a) Was working as a professor when he applied
b) Are citizens of ODA member countries (one of which is Indonesia)
- The lowest GPA is 2.64 on a scale of 4.0, 2.80 for a scale of 4.3, and 2.91 on a scale of 4.5.
- Have good health, both physically and mentally to study in Korea
- Applicants who hold a Korean or English proficiency certificate with an outstanding score may be given priority
- Applicants applying to science and engineering may get priority
- Applicants who are professors from developing country universities can get priority
- Applicants from underprivileged families will take precedence

Korean KGSP Scholarship Program There are two ways to apply for the Korean Government’s 2021 KGSP scholarship. Please select one. First, applicants can apply through the Korean Embassy in Jakarta or apply directly to one of the Korean universities of interest.
Complete the required application documents above. You can download the application form, guide, and destination university information on the Korean Embassy website.
In addition to the above application documents, you must also include an official translation of the document into English or Korean if the original is in Indonesian. The translation must be certified by a college or notary public.
Apart from submitting the application documents to the Korean Embassy, applicants applying in this manner are also required to complete the online form for the applicant database. The online form is available on the Korean Embassy website
Applicants can choose 3 universities and 3 majors if applying through the Korean Embassy (Out of the 3 choices there must be at least 1 university from category B).
The deadline for registration is 12 March 2021 at 17.00 WIB. Applicants must have passed by 31 August 2021. Those who have not received a certificate can attach an SKL. All Indonesian documents must be translated into English and notarized.
Furthermore, applicants who pass the next stage will take part in an online interview that will be held between March 22 to March 29, 2021.
